RAINBOWS FESTIVAL- OCT 6th & 7th (http://www.rainbowsfestival.com/)
The annual Rainbows Festival is an urban street fair and festival to celebrate the great diversity of Phoenix. This celebration is held each year in downtown Phoenix in Heritage Square Park and the surrounding streets. It is located near 7th Street & Monroe, just two blocks north of Chase Field.
This is the largest gay/lesbian event in the state of Arizona. It is an opportunity for the gay/lesbian community and their friends to celebrate the diversity of the Phoenix community.
The Rainbows Festival is a free admission event.
STREET FAIR
The streets inside the Heritage Square Park and the surrounding areas are filled with nearly 200 exhibitors promoting their business and organizations to the gay/lesbian community. The street fair opens at 10am and closes at about 6pm.
There is also an exciting international food court and dining area set up in the street fair.
The street fair also winds into the grassy park areas of Heritage Square Park.
FESTIVAL GARDEN
The Festival Garden is located in the Lath House at Heritage Square Park. This huge covered and open air venue is the center stage for the entertainment at the Rainbows Festival. The Festival garden opens at noon.
During the day, a variety of entertainment is on the Festival Stage in the Festival Garden, hosted by the fabulous Ms Barbra Seville and her many friends.
As the sun sets, the Festival Garden will light up to the dance music provided by DJ Doom. The party will continue in the Festival Garden into the night……drinking, dancing and fun. The Festival Garden will close at 6pm.
On Saturday, the Festival Garden will feature the annual finals for the Arizona Gay Idol produced by Wet Dog Productions.
PARKING
There are several large parking garages within 4-5 blocks of the site for the annual Rainbows Festival in downtown Phoenix. There are nearly 20,000 parking spaces in this area of downtown Phoenix, surrounding Chase Field. Arizona Center, Phoenix Convention Center and America West Arena.
